About the Southern Mississippi Chapter

The Southern Mississippi Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers is a chapter organized to promote safety and training in industry and the community, for professionals in the safety field and those interested in safety.

The local ASSE chapter understands the busy schedule of its members and strives to meet monthly at LaFont Inn for one hour, starting at noon on the third Tuesday of each month. Speakers and subject matters relate to the interest of industry and community awareness, such as OSHA updates, highway safety, contractor safety, new guidelines for ambulances, fire services, police security, industry guidelines for safety, and updates from National ASSE.

The chapter falls under the Region IV area and helps sponsor the Region IV Professional Development Conference each year. Recent PDC Conferences have been held in Biloxi, MS; Baton Rouge, LA; Atlanta, GA; and Jacksonville, FL.

It is with confidence the chapter stays focused on the ever-changing needs and demands of safety in today's world, and upholding the elected officers of the chapter to meet these changes.
